SINGAPORE, 27 January 2016 – Alpha7, a Singapore-based leader in cloud computing solutions and advisory services for business, has appointed James Wong Managing Director for Asia. James brings over 27 years of experience in information technology. He will be based in Singapore, and will drive client acquisitions across the region. Alpha7’s 2016 planned market expansions include Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. The company also announced the appointment of two general managers – Kelvin Woo and Ailene Lee.
Prior to joining Alpha7, James was Managing Director and Head of Channels for Asia-Pacific at NYSE listed A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN), a network and security solutions company. At A10 Networks, he helped grow revenue from US$800,000 to US$10,000,000, as well as oversee regional activities around its IPO. He previously held senior IT leadership roles at Siebel, prior to its acquisition by Oracle, and at Bex.com, an e-commerce business. He was among the first employees of NYSE-listed Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) when it set up its first regional office in Singapore.
Lynette Seah, CEO and Founder of Alpha7 said, “In James, we have a senior and experienced technology leader – a true innovator. James has a record of managing fast growing businesses; he will be focused on rapid customer growth. Alpha7 has added nearly a dozen new customers in just the first quarter of 2016, with several more in the pipeline. James’ vision and insights will be crucial in supporting our accelerated growth.”
Other senior hires are Kelvin Woo, General Manager Channels & Business Development, and Ailene Lee, General Manager General Business Division. Kelvin has over 20 years’ experience in sales and business development in the banking & financial, telecommunications, healthcare and public administration sectors across Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Ailene, meanwhile, has 23 years’ experience in sales and marketing, was most recently the Vice President of Sales at SingPost, driving its transformation from postal service to e-commerce and logistical services provider. Prior to SingPost, she was the Assistant Vice President of Airtime Sales at MediaCorp.
“Our senior team is incredibly strong and focused on very rapid customer and geographic expansion. With this in place, we are looking to raise around S$5 million in pre-Series A funding to ensure we can grow at the pace we need to, in order to reach our Series A, and our valuation targets. In my nearly thirty years in technology, there has never been a better time for business cloud computing in Asia. We see great potential in bringing Fortune500 level technology to local and regional businesses, helping them improve their competitiveness, and remain agile and innovative – with the cloud,” added Lynette.
According to Global Industry Analysts, Asia-Pacific represents the fastest growing cloud computing market, with revenue from the region projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16 percent from 2014 to 2020. Gartner anticipates the cloud services market in Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) grew 14.2 percent in 2015, to total US$7.4 billion, up from US$6.5 billion in 2014. It forecasts this will rise to US$12.9 billion by 2019.
