From January to February 2016, I was given the opportunity to intern in Alpha7. During my time in Alpha7, I was exposed to the working environment, and gained wonderful insights and the necessary skillsets to be an efficient worker. Also, I managed to gain insights about local businesses as well as the challenges faced by SMEs in technology adoption.

Benefits package in a startup

Tags:

In terms of compensation to employees, this generally falls into three categories; basic pay, performance-related pay and bonuses and indirect pay (which consists of leave and medical benefits). When job seekers look for a job, in addition to intangible benefits like challenge in a job, mentorship and training, let’s face it, pay and benefits are pretty important too – after all, we still need money to fill our stomachs! As a startup company, how are we doing relative to it, and how did we come up with a benefits package in the first place?

Our corporate gifts – our brand identity

Tags:

BY ISAAC YANG

What defines a company? What determines the brand awareness and brand loyalty of a company? Many a time it is due to the visibility of the product, either through banners or gifts received from the company at events. Each time we see the banner or use the gift, the brand of the company gets subconsciously ingrained into our minds, and the next time we have to make a purchase decision, we might be influenced to choose the brand over another.

From time to time, we celebrate our colleagues’ birthdays in the office! We make it a point to hold a monthly celebration each month during our Friday food and drinks session, and it never fails to provide much laughter to the whole office.

Why do we celebrate birthdays?

Things to consider when choosing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

By Julian Siew

Say your business is doing well and you have many customers on a monthly basis. You need to keep track of your customers and ensure that you engage them on a regular basis, to ensure that they keep coming back to you. How do you do it? The answer is a CRM system, which is basically a system that helps you capture your leads, monitor their progress, attach documents and ensure that they are engaged on a monthly basis through emails.

Meeting clients - in the office or out of the office?

Meetings, a bittersweet love affair that we cannot do without in our working life; we need them to discuss things and get things done, but often, we are so swarmed with so many meetings on a daily basis that we end up not being able to get work done. Add in the time spent travelling to offsite meetings and you could spend an entire day attending meetings, resulting in many overtime hours to get the work done and frustrated employees. To mitigate the problem, should we meet clients in or out of office? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Alpha7 participates in book donation drive to school for migrants in Klang

On 11 January, Alpha7’s founder and family, organised, packed and transported 30 boxes of books, toys and clothes to a school for migrants in Klang, Malaysia. It was a four plus hour journey from Singapore to the school in Klang, but the journey, while arduous and concerning due to the weight of the load in the van, was worthwhile.

“Work hard, play harder” – That is the motto at Alpha7! After a long and eventful year where we launched and delivered on our A7 AppsConnect product offering, hired our COO and CMO, and raised $3.1M in funding, it was cause for a celebration. Just to show that we are extra special, we had not one Christmas celebration, but two! So, last Wednesday (16th December), we had Part II of our Christmas celebration, this time on a boat!

Alpha7 celebrates Christmas 2015 (Part 1)

Last year, about seven of us with our partners celebrated Christmas at Four Seasons Hotel, with good food, conversations and exchanging of gifts. It was a cosy affair within the relative confines of a room within a restaurant. This year, however, it was a boisterous event, with Lynette, our CEO and founder, hosting us at her place, where our office used to be at! There were 23 of us this time, wow how we have grown over a year!
